Steer a course for three days of Los Angeles history happenings
Join us Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday...
As we celebrate L.A. Lore.
A very special weekend approaches and we hope that YOU will be part of it.
Friday, October 27: Grand Central Market turns 100, and we're gathering at 10:30am for free 100-layer cake, to ride Angels Flight Railway (free for kids, and for everyone in the evening, when bands will play and costumes are worn), to sample strange vintage confections and to purchase a commemorative postal cancellation, something we helped make a part of the festivities. Wherever you are in Los Angeles, try to swing by the market before 10pm... because Los Angeles landmarks don't turn 100 every day.
Saturday, October 28: and almost sold out, it's our newest crime bus tour Wilshire Boulevard Death Trip. Discover the weird love affair that led to the discovery of fossils in the La Brea Tar Pits, shudder at the terrible death of the most eligible bachelor in Hollywood, be inspired by the futuristic spirituality of Ray Bradbury, root for the preservation superheroes who saved L.A. landmarks and marvel at the beauty and strangeness of the boulevard. Tickets are $58.
Sunday, October 29: the final LAVA Sunday Salon & walking tour of 2017 is a doozy, focusing on the public art of the Civic Center with our special guests Leslie & Cecily Young (daughters of artist Joseph Young), Dion Neutra (son of architect Richard Neutra), conservator Donna Williams, and Clare Haggerty, deputy Director of Collections for the L.A. County Arts Commission. It's free with RSVP.
