Episode #78: Bunker Hill: Past, Present & Future

Join us this week as we talk with Bunker Hill native son Gordon Pattison about his childhood memories of Angels Flight, the neighborhood’s iconic incline railroad. We’ll also talk with Donald Spivack, former Deputy Chief of Operations and Policy for the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency, about the 1970s-era pedestrian bridges on the western slopes of Bunker Hill, which are soon to be rediscovered by a new generation with the completion of the Regional Connector Transit Corridor.

We’ll also discuss the upcoming Marjorie Cameron exhibition at MOCA‘s West Hollywood outpost, the closure of the Archway Theater and Yoga Studio in the old Al’s Bar space in the Arts District, restoration fundraising for the Church of Epiphany in Lincoln Heights, Skid Row policy changes, vandalism and neglect at Barnsdall Park, the unfortunate fake Craftsman makeover of a Googie-style supermarket in Highland Park, still no opening dates for derelict Clark Hotel and Trinity Auditorium properties, and a petition to help the Dutch Chocolate Shop expand its legal capacity. All this and more as Kim & Richard usher in the week of August 11th!
