Save with $25 tickets on Saturday's Hotel Horrors & Main Street Vice history, architecture and true crime tour
Gentle reader,
Maybe we’re a little spoiled after leading sixty eager urban explorers around Los Feliz Boulevard and the raunchy motel district in the heart of Thai Town on last weekend’s debut of the Hollywood Noir tour (next date: February 7).

But turn out is quite a bit lighter on Saturday’s Hotel Horrors & Main Street Vice walk, and this makes us blue, as we so enjoy sharing the stories and landmarks of this fascinating and complicated side of Downtown Los Angeles.
So tickets are now half price, just $25, and we hope this will be the poke in the arm some of our newsletter subscribers need to finally sign up their first Esotouric walking tour, or for past guests to introduce a friend to what we do.
We’ll begin at Grand Central Market, which means you can include brunch or late lunch in your Saturday plans, a ride on Angels Flight to see the Bunker Hill holiday decorations, or a peep inside the lyrical Bradbury Building lobby.
We’re joined on this tour by Joan Renner of Deranged L.A. Crimes, and she’ll be spilling some of the city’s darkest secrets along the way.

The lost world of all-night kicks, low-life amusements, tattoo parlors, freak shows, mummified human bodies both sacred and profane and weird crimes that clotted Main Street’s tenderloin for much of the 20th Century is our obsession, and we can’t wait to share it with you, so join us, do!
Yours for Los Angeles,
Kim & Richard

Are you on social media? We’re on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky, Substack Notes, TikTok, Nextdoor and Reddit sharing preservation news as it happens. New: some of these newsletters are on Medium, too.
• For the holiday season, we’ve got a special offer that’s just the thing for the L.A. lover who already has everything: purchase four walking tour gift certificates, and get an additional ticket for free, which you can gift or use yourself.
Our work—leading tours and historic preservation and cultural landmark advocacy—is about building a bridge between Los Angeles’ past and its future, and not allowing the corrupt, greedy, inept and misguided players who hold present power to destroy the city’s soul and body. If you’d like to support our efforts to be the voice of places worth preserving, we have a tip jar, vintage Los Angeles webinars available to stream, in-person tours and a souvenir shop you can browse in. We’ve also got recommended reading bookshelves on Amazon and the Bookshop indie bookstore site. And did you know we offer private versions of our walking tours for groups big or small? Or just share this link with other people who care.
