Latest update April 10, 2026: City Council’s PLUM Committee will vote on landmark designation of Hollywood Center Motel on Tuesday, April 14 after 2pm and we need YOU to come to City Hall and make public comment, or to send an email to the decision makers (instructions below).
August - September-ish! Let’s hope we can pick some Star Fruit together this Fall and celebrate the tree and buildings being saved. There was a Rockford Files episode with a scene at the Hollywood Center on TV recently, a classic location in film and television history!
..sad to see the hollywood center motel go. that was ALWAYS a landmark, whether documented or not. my 'hollywood' (or at least when i lived there) is getting bulldozed..
There’s also a huge Star Fruit tree just behind the HOLLYWOOD letters on the cement blocks. It feeds people when the fruit hangs over the fence. I think I can see it’s still there from your video. That should be saved too! Fingers crossed.
