These prosecutions were retaliation for Huizar, Englander, and their associates messing with the One and Done Rule and the city's criminal vote trading system. It a two step scam which guarantees a developer may get whatever his desires and the law be damned. Yes, Huizar et alia were involved in bribery while the criminal puppet master Garcetti is now in India waiting to return from India with his reputation cleanses. If the corrupt Feds wanted to end city hall corruption, Garcetti would be in prison. For example, when I reported Garcetti in 2010 for real estate fraud, the FBI agent asked me about CD 14 downtown and whether I knew another about any frauds there. They were looking for fraud in CD14. About Garcetti's real estate fraud with 1601 N. Vine, Steve Ullman and Hal Katersy, the FBI agent said, "we're not interested in that." It as only $4 Million, which seemed like a lot back then.
With the help of the FBI and the federal and state courts, the vast corruption at LA city hall has given us the homeless crisis by the mass destruction of RSO units, fraudulently high housing prices due to a number of frauds to which the Feds turn a blind eye, and the exodus of the Millennial and Gen Z middle class to other states. In addition, the CityWatch articles by Tim Campbell are a roadmap to the on-going corruption in the various city and county homeless agencies.
For some time, there seems to have been a Chinese aspect to the concern about Huizar. Maybe some day someone will know. What is clear is that these prosecutions are designed to protect the vast corruption at LA city hall and to deter anyone else from interfering with their smooth operation.

Thanks for sharing your perspective on the apparently selective prosecutions. Why not just take greedy pols off PLUM, though? Without that committee appointment, there was a lot less they could do to rock the corruption boat.
Corruption is so amazingly bad in our part of the world
thank you for writing and sharing with me and your other reader
happy new year

Kim & Richard:
Really well done. That took a lot of effort.
It was a rough slog, but cathartic. Thanks for reading!
