I attend an open community meeting each first Wednesday at the Charter School across the street from the Unique at 6-7:15. Someone always mention the theatre. And a representative from Supv. Solis’s staff always attends. Maybe we can use that meeting as a reminder each month for a progress report since there is a definite community interest
That's great to know, and it might be helpful to let Supervisor Solis' office know that the community is interested in hearing a progress report, especially in light of the landmarking and latest fire. It's possible the person attending the meeting doesn't know what's happening, but that others in the office could brief them, or attend on request.
Thank you, Irene D’Avila and I a hoping to schedule Esotouric for a brief “Historical sites in the neighborhood” soon. And will follow up with the supervisor’s office. The new captain of ELA SD will attend next first Wednesday so I think that’s our agenda
Thanks for keeping the Unique in your heart and on the agenda. We're not experts on East L.A., though we definitely have a few favorite landmarks in the area that we like to look out for!
I saw in the “Boyle Heights Beat” that St. Lucy’s Catholic Church is built (and repaired from a vehicle smash on their iconic mural by artist George Ypes) on the site of another small theater. City Terrace Blvd. and Hazard Drive
Great idea ! I will let the meeting planners see if it’s too late to get the topic on next week’s agenda. Kim and Richard might like to be featured at another “first Wednesday” meeting as well ?
