My wife and I having been with LAPD beginning in the late 1960s we never had any "active" connection with Lincoln Heights Jail, but we were regaled by the older employees with their stories going back to the 1940s. It would be a terrible loss to destroy this monument. It has a long life ahead if they will put it to new uses for current and future Angelenos.
I have lived in Los Angeles over 77 years and never heard about this jail. I hope it will not be destroyed but saved as a memory of human indifference to those who are not cookie cutter people. Thank you for letting me know about this property and its history. Babs
